When Natalie reached out to us about shooting her and Ian’s wedding in her hometown of Ames, Iowa, we couldn’t have been more excited. Natalie is the younger sister of one of my best grad-school buds, and although we had only met briefly on one occasion, I had heard enough stories about the family to know we were in for a treat!
Natalie and Ian now live in Wisconsin, but knew they wanted to get married in the town where they grew up and so set the date for an October wedding in Ian’s family’s backyard, with a reception at Snus Hill Winery to follow. Natalie and Ian planned the wedding around the season, incorporating the saturated oranges, purples and reds of the fall foliage into all of the handmade decorations. On the morning of the wedding, which started out ominously cold and grey, Ian gathered his friends for a bike tour around town as Natalie settled in to an early hair appointment with her mother and sisters. Just before the ceremony, the sun broke through the clouds and shined throughout the rest of what was most certainly a perfect day!
Thanks a million to the Brunia’s and Ritz’s, for hosting us, feeding us, and keeping us laughing. We had a truly wonderful time. And stay tuned for the upcoming video!
